Labour Labour want to match the target set by the UN (0.7% of GNP) and to do so by 2013. By 2006, Labour plan to increase overseas aid to £6.5 billion. The party wants to persuade other governments to write off debt payments of the world's poorest nations. 
Conservatives Would match Labour's spending plans and work towards the UN's target.
Liberal Democrats Would meet the UN target of 0.7% GNP by 2012. Would also try to persuade other nations to write off debts from the world's poorest countries.
