Labour
was reassess the reforms pushed through regarding the House
of Lords. The primary priority of the party would be to define the
actual functions of the Lords. Plans for a Supreme Court would be
continued with as would a reform of the position of the Lord Chancellor.
Plans for regional assemblies in England will be ended. |
| Conservatives |
The
Human Rights Act would be reviewed with the possibility of Britain
pulling out of it. The number of MP's and ministers would be cut by 20%.
Up to 134 MP's would go. Only English MP's would be allowed to vote on
legislation that purely affected England. A referendum
would be held on whether the Welsh
Assembly should be scrapped. |
| Liberal
Democrats |
The
Liberal Democrats would complete the reform of the House of Lords. The
party supports a fully elected second chamber. Plans for regional
assemblies in England are to scrapped and any assembly that is made up
of non-elected officials would be reformed to include only elected
officials. Regional development agencies would be made more accountable. |
