The verdicts at the Frankfurt Trial ranged from acquittal of all charges to life in prison. The Frankfurt Trial, sometimes known as the Auschwitz Trial, was held in Frankfurt am Main in what was West Germany. The Frankfurt Trail started on December 20th 1963 and ended on August 20th 1965. At the time it was the longest lasting legal case in West Germany’s history. The trial once again resurrected the horrors of what had occurred in Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Baretzski, Stefan: Block Leader, accused of 5 murders, 11 joint murders and complicity in the deaths of 3,000 others: Life plus five years hard labour.

 

Bednarek, Emil: Prisoner; accused of 14 murders: Life with hard labour.

 

Wilhelm Boger: Camp Gestapo, accused of 144 murders, 10 joint murders, complicity in the deaths of 1000 others: Life plus five years hard labour.

 

Breitwieser, Johann: Disinfection section: Acquitted.

 

Broad, Percy: Camp Gestapo, accused of 22 joint murders and complicity in the deaths of 1000 others: Four years hard labour.

 

Capesius, Victor: Head of camp pharmacy, complicity in joint murder on at least four occasions of 2,000 deaths each: Nine years hard labour.

 

Dylewski, Klaus: Guard Unit, complicity in joint murder on at least 32 different occasions, two involving the murder of 750 persons each: Five years hard labour.

 

Frank, Willi: Chief, dental station: complicity in joint murder on at least six separate occasions of at least 1000 deaths each: Seven years hard labour.

 

Hantl, Emil: Medical section: complicity in joint murder on at least forty separate occasions of at least 170 deaths each: three years six months with hard labour.

 

Karl Höcker: adjutant to Camp Commander Höss, complicity in the murder of at least 1000 deaths on three separate occasions: Seven years hard labour.

 

Hofmann, Franz: officer in charge, 1 murder, 30 joint murders, complicity in joint murder on three separate occasions of at least 750 deaths each: Life with hard labour.

 

Kaduk, Oswald: roll-call leader, 10 murders, joint murder of 1000 people, life with hard labour.

 

Lucas, Franz: camp medical officer, complicity in the murder of 1000 persons: Three years three months with hard labour.

 

Klehr, Joseph: medical section, 475 murders: Life plus fifteen years hard labour.

 

Mulka, Robert Karl: adjutant to Camp Commander Höss: complicity in the murder of 750 people, fourteen years hard labour.

 

Nubert, Gerhard: case not continued with due to illness of accused.

 

Schatz, Willi: dental station, acquitted of all charges.

 

Scherpe, Herbert: medical section, complicity in the joint murder of 700 persons, four years six months hard labour.

 

Schlage, Bruno: prison bunker guard, complicity in joint murder on eighty separate occasions: six years hard labour.

 

Stark, Hans: Camp Gestapo, joint murder on 44 separate occasions, one involving 200 persons and one involving 100 persons. Ten years in prison.
