Support for the Liberal Party in Scotland stayed healthy until the Labour Party started to organise itself. The Conservative Party’s support stayed reasonably static in terms of the social class it attracted for support. However, in Scotland the Liberal Party could not rely on the support of the working class after the Labour Party had taken root.
